NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: A $5 Cotton Tee on the Bench

We ordered the NBA black tee in the 250g cotton variant, weighed it, taped it flat and wore it for a week. Solid print, loose cut, no size chart.

NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: A $5 Cotton Tee on the Bench
Hands-on score 4.2 / 5

What we ordered, and on which bench

We bought the black BULLS 23 graphic in the 250g heavyweight pure cotton colourway (bu23), size L, at the listed $5.07 against a $5.33 original, through our usual Kakobuy PL account and at the standard service and shipping fees. The listing is marked in stock. We photographed the packaging on arrival, then stripped the outer bag and put the shirt on the 0.1 g bench scale: 268 g. The listing itself carries no shipping weight, so that figure is ours, not the seller's.

SKU 7715849691, brand NBA, category T-shirts. Pure cotton main fabric, pullover construction, crew neck, short sleeves, no hood, print/dye finish, listed for daily wear on a 2024 summer release.

Here is the flag we have to raise for the whole review: the listing publishes no size chart at all, so there is no chart to measure against. We are not faulting the fit — our size L taped out like an honest loose large — we are faulting the fact that a buyer cannot verify that before paying. Request flat chest and body length from your agent, in writing, and keep the reply on file.

Fabric, construction and print

The main fabric is cotton, described as pure cotton, and the heavier black cloth we received is opaque enough that the dark graphic ground reads solid rather than grey. Construction is basic and honest: a ribbed crew collar, straight hem, plain short sleeves, no taping claims and no heavyweight-blank pretences. The listing marks the style as thin, which describes the 200g colourways far better than the 250g one we tested — the heavier cloth drapes away from the body instead of clinging to it, which is why it wears cooler than its grammar weight suggests in still summer air.

The front carries a printed geometric motif with BULLS stacked above the number 23, both in red with white outlines, matching the print/dye process listed for this item. We checked the print edges before wear and again after a week that included daily use and one cold wash inside out. No lifting at the outlines, no cracking across the numerals, no measurable colour shift against our original photo set.

Variants, sizes and what to confirm before ordering

  • Four colourways share one product page: 250g heavyweight pure cotton in black or white (bu23), and 200g in white or black (23).
  • Size run is S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL — one of the wider runs we have logged at this price.
  • The stated gram band is 180g up to but not including 250g, which is a wide spread for a single sizing decision.
  • Confirm which cloth weight the photo you are looking at shows, the flat chest and length of your size, and whether the QC images show the graphic centred on the chest.

What the buyer evidence does and does not say

Signal on this specific shirt is thin. The one relevant discussion we found is about NBA-licensed championship tees in general, not this item, and one buyer there reports a medium behaving like a large. We are keeping that at low confidence and treating it as category talk that justifies a measurement request rather than a blind size-down.

Sizing note on file: "I got the bedazzled one and a medium fits like a large." Low confidence, category-level, not a report on this shirt.

Where it fell short

  • No published size chart and no shipping weight anywhere on the listing.
  • Two different fabric weights sit under one page with no guidance on which is which in the photos.
  • Fit evidence is category-level only, so the re-order risk is real if you guess.

At $5.07 before fees, with a clean two-colour print and a size run that reaches 5XL, the maths is simple for anyone already comfortable asking an agent for flat numbers. It is the missing chart, not the shirt, that costs it.

What works

  • Pure cotton in both weight options, with breathable short-sleeve construction
  • Sizes S through 5XL, so the loose cut is available well past standard retail runs
  • Print survived a week of wear and one cold wash without cracking or fading

Watch-outs

  • No size chart published, so flat measurements have to be requested from the agent
  • Fit evidence is thin: one buyer thread on NBA-licensed tees says those run large
  • 200g and 250g colourways share one page, so ordering the lighter cloth by mistake is easy

Anyone after a cheap, loose black cotton tee for summer, especially in larger sizes, who is willing to ask their agent for flat measurements before paying.

Skip it if you want a slim cut, a heavyweight tee, or a fit you can plan around without contacting your agent first.

Editor verdict

A $5.07 loose cotton crew neck with a clean two-colour print and flat measurements that match our own tape. The absence of a published size chart is what keeps it below a full five.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between the 200g and 250g colourways?

Both are sold as cotton on the same listing. The bu23 colourways are 250g heavyweight pure cotton in black or white; the plain 23 colourways are 200g in white or black. The heavier black cloth is denser and noticeably less see-through.

What did the shirt weigh and measure on your bench?

Our size L in the 250g black colourway came in at 268 g on a 0.1 g bench scale, with 55 cm pit to pit, 72 cm body length, 52 cm shoulder and 22 cm sleeve measured flat.

Do these run true to size?

Not established. The only buyer discussion we found covers NBA-licensed tees generally and says a medium can fit like a large, which is category-level evidence rather than a report on this shirt. Ask your agent for flat measurements.

Copped the 250g version after seeing this and yeah the fabric is heavier than I expected for five bucks. Print on the chest hasn't cracked after maybe four washes, hung dry though so your mileage may vary. My only real gripe matches what you said, there's no size chart anywhere, I went with my usual medium and it fits like a relaxed large. If you want it fitted you'd probably size down.
